After a brief little nap after school, I drove out to one of my favorite places to run by myself. I absolutely love the Agricultural Farm Park. It's just a beautiful place and a hidden gem for running. The first time I ran here, I knew it would be a great place to run, but I never knew it would be the site for my first xc invite and the USA XC National Championships. Everytime I run here I'm reminded of my childhood and running in Southern Illinois. Every run from my house started with with a huge field of corn and cows on my right side. The Farm Park brings me back to those days when running was simple. I just ran back then. I didn't even notice that it was humid for I was in the zone. I ran a loop around the cornfield and then headed into the a secret little trail. It's another hidden gem at the Farm Park. I found a huge fallen tree. It was one of those serious damages. If you didn't think the storm the other night was a big deal. Think again. This tree crushed a fence and blocked the trail, but with some clever hurdling - I was on my way. Then I run through some neighborhoods for about a mile or so - then I head back into the trails. Trails, road, trails is definitely my combination. Before I knew it, I was back in the parking lot. 8 miles and then it started to rain. Talk about perfect timing.
